WHAT IS SECOND STEP?

A tax-free savings plan based on a “With Profits” endowment assurance policy, enabling you to put aside a regular sum for your child or grandchild over any period from 10 to 21 years.   

Second Step will provide the child with life cover during the investment term and a guaranteed, tax free lump sum at maturity.

How much can I invest on behalf of my child?

From just £15 a month up to a maximum of £25 a month, Second Step is a tax free investment everyone can afford. Investments can also be made via a yearly payment, of up to £270.

Who can have a Second Step?

Anyone can take out a Second Step for a child who is a UK resident, under 16 with the parent or guardian’s consent. The policy is in the child’s name and it is the child’s property.

HOW MUCH WILL THE CHILD RECEIVE?

The amount the child will receive when the plan matures will depend upon how much you save, for how long and the bonuses added to the plan.

These, in turn, will depend on investment performance and our charges and expenses. The society may add bonuses to the plan each year An additional terminal bonus may also be added when the policy matures or is cashed in.

What ever happens you will receive a guaranteed minimum sum when the plan matures, together with the added benefit of bonuses, which may be declared each year.
